How can I support you?

As an integrative counsellor and registered member of the BACP, I adapt my approach to suit your individual needs, offering a calm, practical, supportive and confidential space.

Common questions about therapy

Starting counselling can feel like a major step. Here is what you need to know about sessions, confidentiality, and how we work together.

What happens in the first session?

Our first session gives us time to talk about what has brought you to counselling and the support you are looking for. There is no pressure to discuss anything before you feel ready. We can also explore how counselling works and whether I feel like the right counsellor for you.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes. What you share in counselling is treated confidentially. There are some circumstances in which I may need to share information, particularly if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm. I will explain confidentiality clearly before we begin and, wherever possible, discuss any concerns with you first.

How long is a counselling session?

Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly. We can discuss how often you would like to meet and review this together as we work.

Do you offer counselling online?

Yes. I offer both face-to-face and online counselling. Online sessions can be a helpful option if travelling is difficult, or if you feel more comfortable speaking from your own space.

How much does counselling cost?

Individual counselling costs £45 for a 50-minute session. I also offer a reduced rate for people working in education, recognising the particular pressures that can come with supporting children and young people.

Do you work with teenagers?

Yes. I work with young people aged 11 and over, as well as adults. My background includes extensive experience of working with children and young people in educational and residential settings. Before counselling begins, I will explain consent, confidentiality and safeguarding arrangements to anyone under the age of 18.
